One Direction has released a statement about the death of their former member, Liam Payne.

Liam passed away on Wednesday, October 16, after a fall accident.

The band, like many others, was heartbroken by the news.

On their official Instagram account, they wrote:

"We're completely devastated by the news of Liam's passing. In time, and when everyone is able to, there will be more to say. But for now, we will take some time to grieve and process the loss of our brother, who we loved dearly."

One Direction, an English-Irish boy band, was formed in 2010 with members Niall, Liam, Harry, Louis, and Zayn (who left in 2015). Zayn Malik also penned a heartfelt message to late One Direction bandmate Liam Payne. It can be recalled that Liam passed away last Wednesday, October 16, after falling from the third floor of his hotel room in Buenos Aires. Liam and Payne were former bandmates in their all-boy group One Direction. In an Instagram post, Malik wrote, "I lost a brother when you left us."
