He then said had the question been inquiring as to the leader of a “Hukbabahap,” then he would fit in.

Short for “Hukbo ng Bayan Laban sa mga Hapon,” the infamous group, which was also referred to as “Huk,” was regarded as an insurgent group during the late 1940s to early 1950s.

While it was initially organized to fight the Japanese Imperial forces, who invaded the Philippines during the early 1940s, the group eventually became an insurgent group after the surrender of the Japanese to the American forces.

It was then led by Luis. M. Taruc who later surrendered to the government of President Ramon Magsaysay.

It may be perhaps because the TV host and the late rebel leader share the same first name.
