Gerald Anderson, a Filipino actor, was recently awarded a medal by the Philippine Coast Guard, or PCG, due to his selfless act during Typhoon Carina.

It is worth noting that Gerald made headlines for helping in rescuing a lot of people during the onslaught of the super typhoon in the Philippines.

On the official Instagram account of Star Magic, they uploaded the video highlights from Gerald's awarding ceremony which recently happened.

In the caption of the video, they also included some facts about Gerald's awarding ceremony.

"Auxiliary Commander Gerald Anderson was awarded the PCG Auxiliary Search and Rescue medal and ribbon by PCG Commandant Admiral Ronni Gil Gavan," they shared.

Gerald Randolph Opsima Anderson Jr., or simply Gerald Anderson, is a Filipino-American actor born on March 7, 1989. He is best known for his lead roles in several TV series, including Sana Maulit Muli, My Girl, Tayong Dalawa, Kung Tayo'y Magkakalayo, and Budoy.

As previously reported by KAMI, Gerald Anderson is now hailed as one of the heroes during Carina's onslaught. He helped rescue many people who were trapped in their homes, bringing them to safer places. Because of this, many netizens also recalled his contribution during Ondoy in 2009. Gerald was also among those who actively participated in the rescue operations back then.
