John Arcilla has taken to social media and posted a frank commentary on the public focusing on Carlos Yulo’s rift with his mom, Angelica Poquiz Yulo.

In a lengthy post on his Instagram page, John urged people to celebrate the Filipino athlete’s double Olympic gold win instead of talking about the highly publicized family rift.
“Parang lumalala na. Sana I-CELEBRATE NA LANG MUNA NATIN ANG TAGUMPAY NG KAGILAGILALAS NA SI CARLOS YULO kahit isang buwan man lang o higit pa, kasi dahil sa kanya NAKAKA PROUD BILANG PILIPINO.”
He also stressed the importance of “self-regulation,” which he learned when he studied mass communication.

“Sa tinapos kong kurso ng Masscommunication, may tinatawag tayo sa media na SELF REGULATION. Sana ipaalala natin ‘yon sa ating mga colleagues and let’s practise the principle. Kahit hindi tayo propesyonal pwede naman tayong pumili kung saan angulo natin papaikutin ang usapin.”
He went on to express, “Sa Ganitong LEVEL ba talaga natin gustong ifocus ang TAGUMPAY ni Carlos Yulo na tagumpay din natin bilang isang NASYON?”
Furthermore, the veteran actor wrote a blunt message seemingly addressed to the media.
“Mas IMPORTANTE ba talaga na maka-scoop muna? Kung hindi natin ito isusubo sa masa hindi rin naman nila ito bibigyan ng atension. Tayo ang magtuturo sa ating mga kababayan kung ano ang mas MAHALAGANG PAG USAPAN.”
“Siguro pwede tayong mag focus na itaas muna ang moral nating mga Pilipino. Kahit saglit lang o kahit panghabangbuhay na. Maraming salamat po,” he added.
Carlos Edriel Yulo is a Filipino artistic gymnast known for his exceptional skills and achievements in gymnastics. He gained international recognition for his performances in various competitions, particularly in the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships. He bagged two gold medals in gymnastics at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
In a previous report by KAMI, Carlos Yulo’s Milo ad with his mother, Angelica Poquiz Yulo, resurfaced on social media. The commercial published in 2020 features his inspiring gymnastics journey. In the ad, Carlos is thrown back to his childhood, where his mom could be seen supporting him. It is also worth noting that his brother, Karl Eldrew Yulo, was the one who played the young Caloy.
Carlos Yulo, after bagging his second Olympic gold medal, aired a message to his father Mark Andrew. In a video posted by GMA News, Caloy shared how much he loves his dad. The two-time Olympic gold medalist also shared how supportive his beloved father is. The Filipino gymnast likewise aired a short yet sweet message for Mark Andrew.
