Eva Darren, emosyonal na kwinento nangyari sa FAMAS kamakailan: "Napahiya ako, ang sakit"

- The vetaran actress also got emotional when she recalled how she felt at that time

Eva Darren was a guest of Aster Amoyo in the latter's show, TicTalk.

She narrated how she felt and how she felt embarrassed at that time, noting that it actually hurt her.

"Parang gusto ko nang maglupasay non, kasi nahihiya ako. Maraming nakakaalam...manonood ng FAMAS, nagpaalam na ako sabi ko, mare, pasensya na ha, aalis na ako kasi nahihiya ako..." narrated Eva, as they exited from the event.

The following day, she refused to talk to anyone, and there were so many who were asking about the event, and they were calling her eldest son and her daughter.

"Sabi ko sa anak ko, sabihin mo pasensya na... Napahiya ako, ang sakit," Eva said, and where she started to become emotional at that point of the interview.

"Ang sakit talaga...," she added.

"Umiyak ka ba?" Aster Amoyo asked.

"Sa bahay na, ewan ko, nanginig talaga ako, yun lang, napahiya ako eh," said Eva.

Eva Darren is a Pinay actress best known for the supporting roles she played. She began appearing in movies during the early 1960s and won the FAMAS Award for Best Supporting Actress for the 1969 movie "Ang Pulubi" starring Charito Solis. One of her most memorable roles was in the hit TV series of ABS-CBN "Pangako Sa 'Yo," where she played as the adoptive mom of Kristine Hermosa.

It can be recalled that Eva and her family has accepted the apology issued by the FAMAS organization. The controversy involved the Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences (FAMAS) inviting Ms Darren to grace the awards night and be one of its presenters alongside Tirso Cruz III. However, when the time came for both of them to present the award, it was Tirso and an upcoming young singer who went onstage, instead of the veteran actor and Ms Darren. According to FAMAS, they were unable to locate Ms Darren, hence the replacement.

At the time, AKTOR Ph, an organization of Filipino actors, has issued a statement as regards what happened to Ms. Eva Darren during the FAMAS awards night. It can be recalled that FAMAS invited Ms. Darren to grace the occasion and be one of the presenters of an award, though the presentation part did not happen due to some circumstances. FAMAS has since issued an apology to Ms. Darren and her family, which the latter, along with her kins, has also publicly accepted through a social media post. For AKTOR’s part, it expressed its support and solidarity with Ms. Darren along with the hopes that those concerned would restore respect and authenticity to such events.
