Mav Gonzales is one of Chino Trinidad's former media colleagues who have paid tribute to the deceased veteran sports journalist.

To recall, Chino succumbed to a heart attack on Saturday night, July 13. He was 56 years old.

In a Facebook post on Sunday, July 14, Mav recollected Chino's kindness towards her when she was new in the industry. She narrated how the late reporter and commentator helped her to write a sports article about the Philippine Azkals.

"Kuya Chino helped me when I first came to GMA News Online, a young girl fresh out of college trying to write articles about the Philippine Azkals. It was a big story back then. HUGE by any Philippine sports standards."

She likewise remembered, "And he guided me, introduced me to people, and did stakeouts with me."

Furthermore, the Kapuso reporter penned a short yet heartfelt message to Chino's loved ones.

"Condolences to all his loved ones," she wrote.

Manolo "Chino" Trinidad was a Filipino sports journalist and commentator. He started his journalism career with DZRH in 1991. Chino later served as commissioner of the defunct Philippine Basketball League from 2000 to 2010. He also previously worked with GMA Sports as a commentator and sports analyst.

Arnold Clavio is mourning the death of sports journalist Chino Trinidad. Arnold posted a screenshot of his conversation with his fellow reporter on June 15. In the caption, Arnold revealed, “Kinumusta mo pa ako noong June 15 , ilang araw matapos ako ay nagkaroon ng hemorrhagic stroke.” The news anchor likewise penned an earnest farewell message to the late journalist.
