Suspended Bamban Mayor Alice Guo, pinapaaresto na ng Senado

- The Senate has issued an order for the arrest of suspended Bamban Mayor Alice Guo

- The grounds that the Senate cited was her repeated failure to attend the investigation into the raided POGO hub located in Bamban

- Aside from Guo, there were seven others who were likewise ordered arrested

- The arrest order was issued by Sen. Risa Hontiveros, which was approved by Senate President Francis "Chiz" Escudero

Suspended Bamban Mayor is facing arrest after the Senate issued an arrest order for her.

The arrest order was issued by Sen. Risa Hontiveros, chairperson of the Senate Committee on Women, Children, Family Relations and Gender Equality.

It was then approved by Senate President Francis "Chiz Escudero."

The Senate also released a copy of the arrest order on social media.

Aside from Guo, there were seven others who were also ordered arrested by the body.

They were Dennis Lacson Cunanan, Nancy Jimenez Gamo, and the alleged relatives of the mayor namely, Sheila Leal Guo, Wesley Leal Guo, Jian Zhong Guo, Seimen L. Guo, and Wen Yi Lin.

As per the order, Guo will be detained at the Senate's Office of the Sergeant-At-Arms until such time that she will be appearing and testifying in the Committee.

Alice Leal Guo is the Mayor of the Municipality of Bamban, Tarlac. She won as mayor during the national elections in 2022. She became known nationwide after her name was dragged into the ongoing Senate investigations regarding Philippine Offshore Gaming Operations or (POGO) and the alleged proliferation of illegal immigrants. Her name has been the subject of many online memes since then. Now, the Senate has ordered her arrest for not attending the hearings.

In a related article published last year, social media influencer Madam Kilay previously aired her sentiments about some vloggers who promote betting online. According to her, these people should stop doing so as they already earn from posting content. It didn't take long for her post to go viral on the said social media platform. She even created a new video, highlighting her thoughts about the matter.

In another related news posted several years ago, DOLE confirmed that the number of Chinese illegal workers in the Philippines appeared to have increased. Philippine senators, at the time, expressed their opinion about the matter. They said the government should be stricter in granting permits.
