The possible motive behind the killing of beauty queen Geneva Lopez and Yitzhak Cohen has been established by the authorities.

In a press conference in Camp Crame, Major General Leo Francisco, CIDG chief, revealed that Michael Angelo Guiang, an ex-policeman, pawned a lot to Geneva Lopez.

He said that the beauty queen already allegedly wanted to take the lot, but Guiang told her that he found a buyer for the said lot.

Guiang then acted as a middleman to facilitate the possible sale between the supposed buyer and Geneva, and which was why all of them met up.

However, according to Francisco, there was actually no buyer, but the meeting with Guiang and the other suspect Rommel Abuza, resulted in the deaths of the couple.

Geneva Lopez was a 27-year-old model and beauty queen who was reported missing on June 21, 2024. She was with her boyfriend, 37-year-old Israeli national, Yitzhak Cohen. The two were last seen in Tarlac. On July 6, police authorities say they have found the decomposing bodies of the couple in a quarry site in a faraway barangay in Capas, Tarlac.

It can be recalled that on Saturday, July 6, the governor of Pampanga, Dennis Pineda has confirmed the deaths of the missing beauty queen and her fiancé. The bodies of the missing beauty queen and her Israeli boyfriend were found in a distant quarry in Capas, Tarlac. As per an earlier report by ABS-CBN, authorities were able to locate the initially suspected burial site after a witness came forward. After an investigation of the two corpses found in the site, it was confirmed that indeed they were the Pampanga beauty queen Geneva Lopez and her Israeli fiancé Yitchak Cohen.

Earlier, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) shared to the public some details of the autopsy conducted on the bodies of Geneva Lopez and Yitzhak Cohen. According to the agency, as per the report of GMA News, each of the victims sustained two gunshot wounds. The beauty queen had a wound at the back of the torso, which exited on her chest, and one on the thigh. Her boyfriend had a gunshot wound on the chest and one near the armpit.
