Thai actors Both & Newyear announce engagement after Thailand legalizes same-sex marriage

Thai actors Both Nuttapong and Newyear Kitiwhut have good news for their fans this Pride Month. They got engaged again following Thailand's legalization of same-sex marriage.

On Instagram, Newyear shared lovely photos showing glimpses of his romantic proposal to Both.

In the caption, Newyear shared his sweet conversation with her fellow BL actor when he popped the question to him.

It is worth noting that on June 18, Thailand becomes the first Southeast Asian country to legalize same-sex marriage.

In September of 2023, Both and Newyear, also announced their engagement after 11 years of being together. They broke the great news on Instagram by sharing sweet photos of them during their London trip, one of which shows their hands wearing engagement rings.

Newyear and Both played roles in several Thai BL shows, including the successful 2021 romantic drama series "Top Secret Together." They have been in a romantic relationship for more than a decade.

This year, there are also Filipino celebrities who announced their engagement. Last March, Krystal Reyes shared some sweet pictures taken when her non-showbiz boyfriend proposed. Based on her post, the proposal and engagement took place during their Basco, Batanes trip. In one of the pics, Krystal showed off the engagement ring with the caption, "I'd like to hang out with you for my whole life."

On February 20, Ria Atayde and Zanjoe Marudo announced their engagement. On her Instagram page, Ria shared lovely photos, one of which shows her hand flaunting her engagement ring. “Forever sounds good,” Ria captioned, prompting Zanjoe to comment, “And tastes even better.” The celebrity couple then tied the knot last March 23, which was also the actress’ 32nd birthday.
