Dani Barretto, a female celebrity, has come forward to clarify her earlier statement and comments about the Philippines' "utang na loob" culture.

On TikTok, Dani uploaded a 5-minute video saying she never said that a child should no longer support their parents when they're much older.

"I just wanna get on here and clarify something regarding the recent highlights regarding utang na loob sa magulang sa 'Bare It All' podcast na TikTok. I never said na wag kayo magi-give back sa pamilya niyo, na wag niyong suportahan yung pamilya niyo, or wag kayo maging mabuting anak at i-spoil sila, whatever you said in the comment section. I never said that. Wala po akong sinabing ganun," she began.

In her recent video, Dani reiterated her belief that giving back should be "voluntary" and "not obligatory" and said that was her opinion.

"Ang point po nung video na yun is, ang opinyon ko po, is that giving back should be voluntary, not obligatory. Yun lang po ang opinyon ko," she said before adding, "Obligasyon po ng bawat magulang na paaralin, bigyan po ng bahay o roof over their heads ang kanilang mga anak, pakainin, bihisan, and all of that. Obligasyon po yan ng mga magulang sa kanilang mga anak."
