During Michelle‘s interview on GMA’s ‘Unang Hirit,’ the Filipina beauty queen explained that she and Anntonia did not expect to be shipped by netizens.
However, Michelle believes that this happened since both the Philippines and Thailand are powerhouse countries in the world of pageantry.

She also shared the background of their friendship, revealing that they were not close at the beginning but gradually, they became inseparable friends before going back to their respective countries.
“Before arriving to El Salvador, of course alam naman natin, Thailand and the Philippines are both powerhouse countries in terms of pageantry and malakas talaga ang support system.
“Hindi kami naging close kaagad. We were assigned to different tourist destinations. Hindi kami nagsama talaga until rehearsals and then we realized na parang we have so much in common.
“We really jibe in terms of our sarcasm or humor, super kalog din kami.
"Pero we took a photo for the first time, not expecting us to be linked together.
"Kasi our intention naman talaga was to show our fans na Philippines and Thailand are good friends. Tama na yung mga away-away.
"But when we became close, medyo naging inseparable talaga kami,” Michelle explained.
Michelle Marquez Dee is a beauty queen who rose to fame after winning the Miss Universe Philippines 2023 pageant. She represents the Philippines at the 72nd Miss Universe pageant in El Salvador. Michelle’s mother is actress and former beauty queen Melanie Marquez.

The beauty queen thanked all those who supported Michelle. She also showed gratitude for those people who believed in her daughter. Michelle made it to the Top 10 of the Miss Universe 2023 competition but failed to make the cut for the Top 5.
Meanwhile, a video of Michelle sharing a sweet moment with newly-crowned Miss Universe 2023 Sheynnis Palacios also went viral. The video zoomed in on the post-coronation moment on the Miss U stage. She hugged Sheynnis warmly and exchanged some words, then ended it with a high-five. Michelle also took the time to thank all those who supported her Miss U journey.
