Marietta Subong or Pokwang is among the most well-loved comediennes in the industry. Her frank and motherly ways are always "patok" among Filipinos. She used to be with ABS-CBN but moved to GMA during the pandemic. Some of her popular movies are “Call Center,” “A Mother’s Story,” and “Edsa Woolworth.” She has two daughters, Mae and Malia. Her split with Lee O'Brian has caused a buzz on social media.
Meanwhile, in a post on another social media platform, the micro-blogging app formerly called Twitter and now referred to as X, the comedienne posted about Korean star Ryan Bang's wish to live in the Philippines permanently. The comedienne praised Ryan as a good person, contrasting with some other foreigners possibly having ulterior motives. Netizens speculated that her comments were hinting at Lee O’Brian, her former American partner. Pokwang made headlines months ago after going to the Bureau of Immigration to file a deportation case against Lee.
She also previously took to Instagram and shared an adorable video showing Malia and Eugene Domingo. As per Pokwang, the video shows her lovely daughter’s Tagalog lesson with Eugene. In the video, Eugene asked, “Masarap ang fried chicken?” Mamang Pokwang’s five-year-old child then delightfully answered in Tagalog.
