Herlene Budol bagged the Miss Philippines Tourism 2023 crown during the Miss Grand Philippines 2023 coronation night held at SM Mall of Asia Arena on Thursday.
In an ambush interview with the media after the pageant, the “Magandang Dilag” star revealed what she was thinking before the announcement of winners.
“Na baka hindi ako tawagin dahil pinagtawanan po ako sa Q&A ko,” she told the press.
She also admitted that she cried backstage prior to the announcement.

“Kanina nga umiiyak na ako sa likod, sabi ko baka ma-bash na naman ako, natatakot po ako.”
“Pero laban lang,” the actress optimistically added.
Herlene will represent the Philippines in the Miss Tourism World 2023 to be held in London in November.

Herlene, also known as 'Hipon Girl', is an actress, comedian, and social media star who broke through in showbiz as a contestant on “Wowowin” and later became a host. Herlene was first runner-up and won several minor awards at the 2022 Binibining Pilipinas pageant.
Herlene’s answer during the Q&A portion of Miss Grand Philippines 2023 pageant went viral. One of the judges asked Herlene what she thinks is the most urgent problem among Filipino youth and how she would address it. After answering the question, she made the crowd cheer for her when she said, “I-English-in niya po,” referring to her interpreter.
Herlene shared her meaningful advocacy in the Top 15 speech portion of Miss Grand Philippines 2023. She said that as an influencer, she would promote cyber safety. As she delivered her speech, she could not help expressing “woooh” while finding the next words to say. The said moment then brought a pleasant mood to the venue, and it also made the audience cheer for her. Meanwhile, videos of her speech delivery made the rounds on social media.
