Sharon Cuneta’s daughter Miel celebrates Pride Month: “Mabuhay mga bakla!”

Miel Pangilinan, daughter of Sharon Cuneta and Kiko Pangilinan, took to social media to express her support for the LGBTQIA+ community amid the Pride Month.

The 18-year-old, who came out as queer last year, said that Pride Month is not only a time of celebration but also a time to advocate for the rights of the LGBTQIA+ community.

According to Miel, the gay community will not be silent about their rights and will never be ashamed of who they are. She also reminded members of the community to be happy with their identity and to know that they are valid and loved.

“happy #pridemonth this month i’m celebrating: queerness, identity, sexuality, love, and people. the first pride was a riot—always remember. though pride is a time for celebration and togetherness and is an occasion for happiness for the community, we must also remember that there is still so much we are fighting for as a community in this country.

“the rights to safety, the rights to marry who we want to marry, are still heavily debated on by people who make real shots that affect real people. now is the month to show who we are, to show that we exist, and that nobody will silence us or make us feel ashamed in ourselves for being who we are. i am here. i exist. i have been here. i have existed. i am a queer filipino who is proud to be a member of this beautiful, long-standing community.

“to my closeted queers, to my out queers, to my allies, have a safe, happy, and napaka-bonggang-bonggang pride month! i love you all. love and identity have no boundaries, and exist in no binary. as long as you are happy and keeping other people around you safe, you are valid and you are loved. ️‍️‍⚧️ mabuhay mga bakla!! Sharon Cuneta, also known as The Megastar, is a famous Filipina actress, singer, host and endorser. She is the wife of Sen. Kiko Pangilinan and the mother of actress and entrepreneur KC Concepcion, whose father is actor Gabby Concepcion.

The Megastar made news when she cried as she talked about the shutdown of ABS-CBN during her IG Live. She got heartbroken over the thousands of employees affected by the shutdown. The Megastar honored some of her staff and crew and mentioned their names one by one. She couldn't help but ask why people must lose their jobs and asked if people could imagine the country without ABS-CBN.
