Ariel Rivera wasn’t able to hold back his tears as he talked about his last moments with his Dad on Friday’s episode of “Fast Talk with Tito Boy Abunda.”

The popular singer was the featured guest of Tito Boy on that particular episode, which among other topics, talked about fathers.

During the interview, Tito Boy asked Ariel if he could still recall his last conversation he had with his Dad and what transpired before that.

Ariel narrated that it was just before Christmas in 2019 when he got a call from Marvin, his brother, and told him the bad news.

“My brother Marvin, yung sumunod sa 'kin, said dad's not doing well. Something's wrong with him. He had sepsis na pala, but he was home. Parang, he seems lost. He's not himself,” Ariel recounted.

The singer then tried talking to his Dad over the phone but he said something’s off with his father.

“He was off topic, like it wasn't him I was talking to,” the singer said.

At the time, he was in Japan with his family and it was there that he learned their father was later rushed to the hospital.

“So we went back to Manila right away, and I got the first flight to Toronto. When I saw him, he was in the ICU na. He was breathing because of the apparatus,” he recalled.

At this point, Ariel broke down in tears as he recounted the last thing he whispered to his father upon arriving at the hospital.

“I just whispered in his ear, and said thank you dad. For everything you've done for me, you've given me. Don't worry I'll take care of mom. Kung pagod na kayo, magpahinga na kayo. That's all I said,” Ariel said amid tears.

Ariel’s dad passed away just before the New Year.

Ariel Rivera is a Pinoy recording artist and actor. He known as “Kilabot ng mga Kolehiyala,” a title previously attributed to Hajji Alejandro, another famous Pinoy singer in the 70s. Ariel is married to actress Gelli De Belen, with whom he has two sons.

Three years ago, Ariel and his wife Gelli shared on social media a photo showing them with their two sons. The family is currently in Canada where they have migrated. Many netizens immediately reacted after seeing the photo of the Rivera family.

A couple of years before that, Ariel also shared his proud moment as a father. He posted a photo with eldest son Joaquin Andres during his graduation. Joaquin Andres graduated in Canada in 2017.
