Joey De Leon, in a recent interview with journalist Julius Babao, revealed that they have no ill feelings towards GMA network.
The TV host and comedian, however, pointed out some things that made him wonder about the actions of GMA on TVJ’s feud with TAPE.
“Hindi naman kami nagtatampo, hindi naman din kahina-hinala pero kapuna-puna na wala silang sinabi,” Joey said.
“Wala ring, ‘Uy, kung ano man ang mangyari ay itutuloy namin ha.’ Well, take ko ‘yon,” he added.

The TV host then expressed his feelings about what happened.
“Masakit talaga ‘yung nangyari, masakit sa lahat. Wala, it’s bound to happen. Katulad ngayon, hindi ka na makakabalik. Paano ka babalik kung ‘yung mismong channel 7 hindi nagparamdam kasi ang sinasabi nila ang kontrata nila ay with the producers?” he said during the interview.
Joey then told Julius that he reached out to TAPE to allow them to continue hosting the show, at least until its 50th anniversary, after which the production company could fire out TVJ.
“Isa lang ang binitawan ko nung mga meeting na matindi. Sabi ko, ‘Ayaw niyo ba kami paabutin ng 50 years tapos sipain niyo na kami.’ Exact words ko ‘yon, ’tapos sipain niyo na kami’,” Joey revealed in the interview.
The comedian then said that while one of the sponsors of their show called to ask how they were, they did not receive a single call from GMA7.
“Oy, channel 7. Kayo ba tumawag na, ‘OK ba kayo?’ Wala, walang gano’n,” Joey said.
“Eat Bulaga” is the longest-running noontime program in the world. Its hosts, including Vic Sotto, Tito Sotto, Joey De Leon, Maine Mendoza, and others, announced last May 31 that they are separating from TAPE Inc., the company that produces the show. It is not yet clear as of this writing if the hosts will take the Eat Bulaga title with them to another network or if TAPE Inc. will keep the iconic name.
In the same interview, Joey also appeared to unleash a deep “hugot” in the middle of an interview conducted by award-winning journalist, Julius Babao. In the said interview, Joey answered many of the questions that Julius asked about “Eat Bulaga,” TAPE, and GMA7. Television And Production Exponents, or TAPE for short, is the producer of “Eat Bulaga,” and is the same outfit that TVJ disassociated from. The TV host and comedian also unleashed more revelations about the events that transpired in the recent past.
When the interview was done, Julius played a prank on the TV host and comedian. In effect, Joey fell victim to “Wow Mali,” the phrase often attributed to him and his show of the same name, when he was interviewed by Julius Babao. In the video posted by the journalist, Joey's face can be seen showing deep concern about what is happening after the said interview. The comedian’s face only showed relief when he was told that he fell victim to “wow mali,” though he said that he was already beginning to think the scene was like the one on his show. Julius interviewed Joey for his views, thoughts, and opinions about what happened at GMA7 and what they’re looking forward to with TV5.
