Eventually, Karen continued, "Ang pangarap mo talaga noon ay maging basketball player, hindi ba yun natuloy dahil you got into a car accident?"

"Yes. So magbabarkada kami, high school friends. We decided to go to Tagaytay. Yung pag-uwi namin, na-hit namin yung gas truck sa SLEX," he began.

David clarified that he was not behind the wheel but that he was sitting in the passenger's seat when the accident happened.

"No, but I was in the passenger's seat in front. Parang miracle siya. Kasi I remember, nung nagba-backing yung kotse sa Leslie's, diba yun parking boy usually nasa side ng driver? Pero for some reason, parang miracle na lang for me, andun siya sa side ko, sabi niya, 'Sir, seatbelt lang po ah.' Pero natulog ako kasi I was really sleepy, and then dun sa may toll gate, for some reason nagising ako bigla. Parang may gumising sakin and I remember what that parking boy told me, then I did, nag-seatbelt ako. After like 10 minutes, along sa may Parañaque, we hit a gas truck," he recalled.
