Mel Tiangco, sinabing wala umanong makakapalit sa Maalaala Mo Kaya: “It is a class of its own”

Mel Tiangco, an award-winning news anchor and broadcaster, has aired her thoughts about the impending termination of the TV show “Maalaala Mo Kaya” or MMK.

In a post on Twitter, Mel was shown giving her two cents on the supposed cessation of the popular TV show.

She expressed hopes that it’s not true because, for her, nothing could replace Maalaala Mo Kaya on Philippine TV.

The award-winning broadcaster said that MMK is a class of its own.

“I hope it’s not true dahil walang makakapalit sa Maalaala Mo Kaya. It is a class of its own,” Mel said.

She also said that it’s not a joke if a particular TV program on a different channel falls on the same time slot as MMK.

“Hindi biro na kapag natapat ka sa Maalaala Mo Kaya, ay naku magdasal ka na,” Mel said.

The broadcaster used to work at ABS-CBN, which airs the show, before she transferred to her home network now which is GMA7.

A couple of years ago, Mel's hilarious moment with Mike Enriquez at the end of an episode of “24 Oras” went viral. It all started when Iya Villania ended her segment while wearing a scary mask. Mel then told Mike to take off his mask, which prompted their co-hosts and the other people in the studio to laugh.

Mel is known to be very fair and impartial even when dealing with news of rival networks. More than a year ago, GMA7's "24 Oras," of which Mel serves as one of the main anchors, aired the statements of celebrities from rival ABS-CBN regarding the latter's franchise denial. It was Mel Tiangco, a former employee of the Kapamilya network, who reported about it. The said incident just proved that network rivalry is set aside in these trying times.
