Erik Santos recently shared on his Instagram account the sad news that his mother has passed away.

In his IG post, the singer expressed how much he loved his mother, whom he fondly called ‘Nanay’.

“Mahal na mahal na mahal kita, Nanay,” Erik wrote in his post.

He also conveyed his belief in his post that his beloved ‘Nanay’ is finally home with the Almighty.

“She is finally home with Jesus. I love you so much, Nanay,” the singer further wrote in his caption.

Aside from the announcement about his mother’s demise and his expressions of deep love for her, the singer did not provide any more details pertaining her death.

Messages of condolences poured in from celebrities like Yeng Constantino, Zsa Zsa Padilla, Charo Santos, Darren Espanto, John Prats, and Jaya.

“Yakaaaaaaap Erik. Nakikiramay kami,” Yeng wrote.

“Mahigpit na yakap, @eriksantos,” wrote Zsa Zsa.

“My deepest condolences Erik,” Charo said.

“Condolence po, Kuya,” Darren wrote.

“Nakikiramay ako @eriksantos,” said John Prats.

“I am so sorry for your loss, nakikiramay kami,” wrote Jaya.

Erik Santos is one of the most acclaimed and lauded singers in the Philippines. He was hailed as the first Grand Champion of the ABS-CBN singing competition Star in a Million Season 1 in 2003. His hit songs include "Kulang Ako Kung Wala Ka" and "Pagbigyang Muli."

Last month, Erik turned a year older and his loved ones prepared a surprise birthday party for him. The singer then posted on social media a couple of videos giving glimpses of the elegant birthday bash. As can be seen in the videos captured by Nice Print Photography, Erik became emotional over the said surprise. Also spotted at the party are his celebrity friends like Robi Domingo, Darren Espanto, AC Bonifacio, Kyla Alvarez, Jolina Magdangal, Vina Morales, and KZ Tandingan.

Erik was also present during the Christening of Angeline Quinto's baby. Aside from Erik, the cozy gathering was also attended by other celebrities like Vice Ganda. Some of the bosses of ABS-CBN were present too, just like Cory Vidanes. Richard Yap was also present at the event and even shared a few photos.
