According to Aiko, being in public service is both fulfilling and difficult. She explained that it can sometimes be difficult managing her time as a councilor in Quezon City and an actress.

However, Aiko explained that she cannot leave behind showbiz because she uses her earnings as an actress for providing her needs and wants and in giving financial assistance to people in need.

The councilor also talked about having critics as a politician, saying that all she cares about is her constituents’ welfare and not praises from the public.

“Masaya na mahirap ang public service. Masaya ako dahil I love what I do. Mahirap in the sense that I am now juggling my time being a councilor and an actress.
“Di ko kasi pwede iwan ang show business because dito ako nakakaipon and I get to buy what I want from my earnings. Also big help na some of my earnings mas madami ako natutulungan also.
“The most fulfilling part sa public service is you get to help and make a difference sa mga buhay nila. A simple thank you from them is a heaven feeling.

“Nothing comes easy naman whether sa showbiz or any field may difficulties like I really can’t please everyone. Which is not a problem with me kasi ako tuloy lang ang trabaho. I am not here to be liked by many, my concern is the welfare of my constituents,” Aiko said.

Aiko Melendez is a well-known showbiz personality. She received the Best Supporting Actress award in 2018 for her role in the film "Rainbow's Sunset." Aiko ran for and won a seat on the Quezon City Council in 2001. She served for 9 years, until 2010.

As previously reported by KAMI, Aiko Melendez and Senyora’s online conversation is making the rounds on social media. During the conversation, the Quezon City's 5th district councilor asked Senyora how she can donate to the social media personality’s “tampalan.” According to Aiko, she is very much entertained by Senyora’s witty posts.

Meanwhile, Aiko was touched by one of her follower's kind and sweet gesture. On Instagram, the celebrity mom posted a photo she had with her kids which seemed to be taken back in 2010. In the photo, a young-looking Aiko with Andre and Marthena could be seen smiling for the camera. She then revealed that the said photo was kept by one of her followers.
