Christopher de Leon, a multi-awarded actor known for his heavy roles, recently admitted during an interview with Amy Austria for the latter’s vlog channel that there was a time he abused the success he has achieved.
He said that he got lost, perhaps because he also lost sight of the Almighty and got drowned in his success, fame, and money.
“Naging too confident ako with myself. I started enjoying and being happy where I was. Nalululong ako sa masamang bisyo. I was taking all the illegal substances,” Christopher, who is also known as Boyet, said.
“Because of the fame, success, you have all the money. Susuweldo ka today, call up the boys, call up the gang, ‘Let’s paint the town red!’ Excessive ako sa ganu’n,” the multi-awarded actor said.

He also started believing that if he should do one thing so he could do another thing.
“Naniniwala ako na gagawin ko ‘to para magawa ko ‘yan. Gagawin ko ‘to, gagawin ko ‘yan para makarating ako dito,” Boyet said.
Eventually, when things appear to be slipping away, that was when he decided to surrender everything to the Almighty.
“I had to give up. I had to say, ‘God save me.’ I was kneeling down. ‘God, help me. I want to stop. I can’t get out of this dependence,” Boyet said.
Little by little, everything changed for the better and that was when he realized that the Almighty is an answering and merciful Being.
“God is an answering God. Pag galing talaga sa puso mo, pakikinggan ka. He’s a merciful God. He gives you all the chances in life. Not only second chance, but third or fourth chance. His faithfulness is new every morning. His mercies never end,” Boyet said.

In June, Boyet's mom passed away at the age of 92. Several reports on social media said that Lilia Dizon succumbed to lung cancer. A day after the passing of the said veteran actress, Christopher posted a simple yet loving message for his mom. He immediately received words of sympathy from netizens, and even KC Concepcion reacted to his post.
Previously, he also hadthe opportunity to speak about his ordeal with COVID-19 and how it affected him as a person. He attested that his faith in God was strengthened because of COVID-19. He mentioned that it is a must that what's happening right now must serve a purpose. The actor's wife, Sandy, admitted that when her test came out negative, Christopher cried.
