Herlene Budol could not help but turn emotional in her latest interview with Toni Gonzaga, crying hard as she talked about her late grandmother, 'Nanay' Bireng.

During the interview, KAMI learned that Toni asked the beauty queen when her grandmother passed away.

According to Herlene, her 'Nanay' Bireng celebrated her birthday on May 26 and passed away 10 days away from her special day.

"Kailan nawala si lola?" Toni asked to which Herlene explained, "May 26 po yung birthday niya, namatay po siya June 6. 10 days lang po, during pageant po."

Upon hearing this, Toni was stunned to find out that Herlene was going through tough times during the pageant.

"During pageant? So habang nagte-training ka? Pano yun?" she asked. Herlene then openly admitted, "Yun po yung sukong suko na ako."

When asked what she wanted to give up on, Herlene said she wanted to quit everything she was doing.

"Sa lahat ng ginagawa ko. Para san pa po ako magtatrabaho? Tas sabi ko nga po sa inyo na, para sa kanila lahat ng ginagawa ko. Nung nawala po si nanay, nawalan po ako ng pag-asa," she recalled.

According to Herlene, while she was competing for the crown at the pageant, people saw her smiling even though she was going through such a tough time.

Herlene Nicole Budol, also known as 'Hipon Girl', is an actress, comedian and social media star who broke through in showbiz as a contestant on “Wowowin”. She later became a host on the said program but had to leave it due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

As previously reported by KAMI, Herlene Budol, in her latest vlog, revealed the real reason why she joined Bb. Pilipinas. She said that initially when Sir Wilbert told her to join the Bb. Pilipinas pageant, she really did not want to because she thinks that she is not cut for it. However, every day, Sir Wilbert would urge her to join, until he made a deal that she could not refuse.

Meanwhile, Herlene also gave her heartfelt thanks to her manager, Wilbert Tolentino. She said that he is the best manager and the one who drives and gives her the utmost motivation. The beauty queen also appreciated the tough training that she went through for three months. Herlene stated that she and Daisy Lopez, a.k.a. Madam Inutz, are very lucky to have Wilbert.
