The contestant began her answer by saying that she would feel sad and disappointed and then try to correct her boyfriend in a way that he wouldn’t feel disrespected.

“Ang gagawin ko i-aaproach ko muna siya, sabihin ko muna yung mga bagay-bagay na hindi tama, at kung may gusto man po siyang i-clear bago niya i-post yung mga fake news na sasabihin niya sa social media, sasabihin ko po yung mga tamang paraan, o iko-correct ko siya in a way na hindi ko siya madi-disrespect,” the contestant said.

Vhong then asked what would she say or do if her boyfriend tells her that it’s his work and he earns from it.

Vice then asked if she would still respect those who are considered purveyors of fake news.

“I mean yung work niya po, yung work niya lang. I-respect ko yung work niya dahil yun yung pinasukan niyang work, pero ako as a girlfriend niya, kung gusto niya ng impormasyon, mas iga-guide ko pa po siya sa correct na words na gagamitin niya kahit fake news pa yan, basta respect po sa mga tao,” the contestant answered.

Towards the end of their interaction, Vice said it is the contestant’s opinion and they could not do anything about it.

He then proceeded to advice everyone that spreading fake news, particularly if one knows it to be fake, is not right.

He also asked the audience to check their sources of information to ensure what they’re getting is not fake news.

Basta yung legit. Sakto. Qag tayo sa kulang, dun tayo sa sakto,” Vice said.

Fake news on social media has become very rampant, particularly during this time where campaign for the 2022 elections has reached fever pitch.
