According to a Manila Bulletin report, VP Leni is the first presidential candidate in 30 years to visit the island of Basilan.
The last presidential candidate to visit the island is former Sen. Jovito Salonga when he ran for president in 1992.

Sen. Kiko, in his video tweet, wrote that as they come closer to the shores of Basilan, they can hear people shouting “Leni-Kiko.”
“Habang papalapit kami ng Basilan, naririnig na namin ang kanilang sigaw, “Leni-Kiko! Leni-Kiko,” Sen. Kiko wrote.
In his tweet, he also thanked the people of Basilan for their warm welcome and trust.
“Muchas gracias Basilan sa tiwala at mainit na pagsuporta sa amin ni @lenirobredo,” Sen. Kiko further wrote.
Those riding the said pump boat, aside from Sen. Kiko, were VP Leni, Rep. Mujiv Hataman, Mayor Dada Hataman, and Anie Datumanong Salliman, the wife of Gov. Jim Hataman Salliman.
Francis Pancratius Nepomuceno Pangilinan , better known as Kiko Pangilinan, is a Pinoy lawyer currently serving the country as Senator of the Philippines. He graduated from the University of the Philippines and went on to pursue further studies at the Harvard Kennedy School. Sen. Kiko is also known as the husband of Megastar Sharon Cuneta and the adoptive father of KC Concepcion. He is currently running for vice president in the 2022 elections.
Sen. Kiko Pangilinan shared a video clip of the crowd that has gathered for the people's rally in Zamboanga, saying that they are not onions. The video was taken from an angle on the ground, giving a good view of the stage. It also showed people arriving, walking on foot, and with some sitting on the grass, patiently waiting for VP Leni and her slate. The area looked really nice and it might just be one of the beautiful, if not the most beautiful, rally venues of VP Leni so far.
Senator Kiko Pangilinan recently posted some photos taken from Leni-Kiko campaign rallies on his Twitter account. Among the pictures he posted were about his supporters and fans of his nephew, Donny Pangilinan. These people were asking Sen. Kiko about the young actor and he gamely reacted to them. Lots of netizens reacted to his tweets, also expressing their love for Donny.
