Rep. Rodane Marcoleta has released a statement through SMNI News Channel, where he defends Toni Gonzaga from her critics.

According to the representative, Toni was just doing her job.
"Si Ms. Toni Gonzaga, trabaho niya 'yun. Kilala naman natin siya, professional siya, 'yun ang gawain niya."
He then asked why her job must be linked to the events at the proclamation rally.

"Bakit kinakailangan ikapit 'yung trabaho niya doon sa diwa nung kaganapan doon?" he asked.
"Yun ay isang proclamation rally, para bang pinasasama pa siya. Lalo na noong pinapakilala niya ako, ang buong akala naman ng mga naininira sa kanya, ako raw ang nagpasara ng ABS-CBN."
"Dapat habaan nila 'yun (kanilang) pang-unawa, hindi naman natin ipinasara - ang ginawa nain ay pagtupad sa tungkulin natin."
Toni Gonzaga was openly criticized by Direk Erik Matti, as per Inquirer's report. He hit the "unbothered" post of the actress.
In a separate report by Interaksyon, Dawn Chang also took to social media and said that she was deeply hurt and disappointed.

Toni Gonzaga took to her IG Stories and posted a photo of her and BBM. The photo shows both of them on the stage of the recently held BBM rally. She captioned the photo with, "You're welcome my President." The ex-PBB host posted this amid the criticisms she received for endorsing Rep. Marcoleta.
Famous movie and TV director Manny Castañeda took the cudgels for Toni Gonzaga amid the heavy bashing that the actress experienced on social media after hosting the UniTeam proclamation rally. Direk Manny said that Toni is just one of the many showbiz personalities who will not vote for presidential aspirant VP Leni Robredo. He attributed the negative sentiments of these showbiz personalities to what he said as “palaaway” and “bastos” attitude of those he called ‘Pinklawan.’ The famed director also said that many of these showbiz personalities choose to remain silent amid all the noise.
