The video reposted by Gretchen Ho of the actual destruction of most of the roof of the Siargao Sports Complex Gymnasium as super typhoon Odette unleashed its wrath, has gone viral.

The newly-inaugurated gymnasium, at the time, served as shelter for hundreds of evacuees who sought cover from the storm’s wrath.

In the beginning of the video, one can see one part of the roof straining against sustained winds recorded at several hundred kilometers per hour.

Without warning, the entire section of the roof covering what appeared to be more than half of the gym were ripped off its steel girders and trusses, with the affected area collapsing to the ground.

One can hear panicked voices in the background as Odette unleashed its fury on the new gym and sports complex.

The island of Siargao and province of Surigao del Norte, along with many areas in the province of Cebu, Bohol, Iloilo, Negros Occidental and Oriental, as well as some places in Mindanao and Palawan were among those badly devastated by the super typhoon.

As of posting, fatalities are already running in several hundreds.

Gretchen Ho is a television host and former volleyball player in the Philippines. She played volleyball for the Ateneo Lady Eagles from 2008 to 2013. Her popularity rose when she became a co-host on Umagang Kay Ganda, TV Patrol, and The Score.

Celebrities, like Andi Eigenmann, who have been living in the island for years, took to Instagram and to share a video of the devastation that Typhoon Odette has caused. She showed what the road that leads to their home looked like. Fallen trees and posts line both sides of the road with some huge trees blocking a large portion of the road. A post of Philmar Alipayo, the fiancé of Andi, showed that a huge part of the house of the actress was destroyed by the typhoon.

Other celebrities, like Nadine Lustre, could not help but express her sadness over the devastating aftermath of Super Typhoon 'Odette.' In her Instagram stories, the actress reposted several photos showing the conditions of Siargao. According to Nadine, she is absolutely heartbroken as you could not even recognize some of the places anymore. The actress has also been actively posting information on how others could extend their help to the people.
