She made sure that the things that her husband hates — cockroaches, rats, and other creepy crawlies — could be found on the cake. The actress considers herself a "genius" at having thought of that and was able to accomplish her mischievous goal. According to Ellen's friend, Kate Torralba, Ellen made sure that the cake would have the things that Derek despises the most.
