The actress discussed the incident during her appearance on Ang Walang Kwentang Podcast, where she spoke with director Antoinette Jadaone and fellow filmmaker JP Habac. The video, which circulated online years after it was recorded, showed Marian appearing visibly irritated as she addressed someone at the filming location.
Because of the clip, some viewers remembered the actress for what appeared to be a moment of pagtataray. However, Marian explained that the situation had a backstory, emphasizing that the production team had already informed people at the set that taking pictures was not allowed.
According to Marian, GMA personnel had been reminding those present about the restriction. Despite the repeated instructions, one man allegedly continued insisting that he wanted to take a picture.

“Inaawat na sila no’ng taga-GMA na bawal mag-picture,” Marian recalled.
She explained that the man was particularly persistent even after being told that photography was prohibited. Marian said she personally approached him and politely asked him to stop, initially attempting to handle the situation without becoming confrontational.
“Eh meron don isang lalaki ang kulit talaga. Picture talaga siya. Sabi ko, ‘Kuya ‘di po pwede.’ Parang feeling ko pino-provoke niya ako. Ahh provoke pala gusto mo ha. Do’n na nagstart ’yon.”
Marian suggested that the man’s continued insistence made her feel as though he was deliberately provoking her. She indicated that her reaction did not happen immediately but came after she felt that her request and the reminders from the production personnel were being disregarded.
The actress further explained that her main concern was that she had already tried to address the situation respectfully. She said she had even smiled while asking the man to follow the rules, but felt that he continued behaving disrespectfully despite her efforts to be accommodating.
“Ang point ko lang is pinakiusapan ka namin, hindi ka nakuha sa pakiusap, nag-smile pa ko sa’yo, nambastos ka pa rin.”
She then jokingly described how her patience eventually ran out,
“O pwes, lumabas si Etivac Queen.”
Marian Rivera is a Filipino-Spanish actress who became one of the biggest stars in Philippine entertainment through successful television projects such as Marimar, Dyesebel, and Darna. She is the only child of Spanish father Francisco Javier Gràcia Alonso and Filipina mother Amalia Rivera. Her parents separated when she was three years old, after which she was raised largely by her maternal grandmother in Cavite. Marian eventually became one of the country’s most recognizable actresses and formed a hugely popular on-screen partnership with Dingdong Dantes. Their professional relationship developed into a real-life romance, and the couple married in 2014. They now have two children, Zia and Sixto, and remain among the most prominent celebrity families in Philippine show business.
In an earlier account, Antoinette Jadaone shared her memories of Marian’s generosity during their work on Marimar and Dyesebel. Jadaone recalled that despite the enormous popularity Marian achieved through her role in Marimar, the actress remained humble toward the people working behind the scenes. One gesture that stood out to the director was Marian’s habit of keeping birthday presents inside her vehicle so she could give them to members of the production staff. Jadaone also remembered a particularly thoughtful interaction in which Marian personally approached her and asked her to choose a perfume.
In another report, Claudette Tandoc, the daughter of veteran actress Odette Khan, recalled the severity of her mother’s condition during a three-week hospital stay. She shared how critical the situation had become and expressed appreciation for the people who came forward to help their family. Marian Rivera was among the first personalities to extend financial assistance when Odette was admitted to the hospital. Dingdong Dantes also helped arrange additional support through the Film Academy of the Philippines. Although Odette has continued recovering, she still needs maintenance medication, oxygen support at night, and daily assistance.
