When you’re in the trenches with your child, her heartbreaks become your own, and every single one of her victories is felt down to your very soul.
This ACSC meet here in Korea was a milestone for Kendra.
Three years ago, walking in as a freshman who had just started taking swimming seriously, she felt the deep sting of falling short and not standing on that podium.
Some would say starting an intensive daily training program just three years ago is “late,” but Kendra never let that define her.
She chose to run her own race.
She fell completely in love with the sport and embraced the grind, proving that passion paired with relentless hard work and dedication changes everything.
And look at that beautiful smile at the end of every race, that’s not all gold finishes, that’s pure love and joy of the sport, enjoying the competition, and seeing the fruits of her labor.

Touching the wall with new milestones across her events—including breaking 1:02 in the 100 Free and shattering personal records she once thought were out of reach—and earning the genuine respect of the peers and coaches who saw her humble beginnings brought tears to our eyes.
We share these victories so deeply with her because we know every drop of sweat and every sacrifice it took to get here.
There is still so much room to grow, so much to refine, and she knows she still has plenty left to prove as she prepares for the next level.
But with that fire inside her, we know she’s ready.
Kenny, your pain has been our pain, and your triumph is our joy.
You’ve come so far in such a short time, and we are right beside you for every lap and every step of this journey.
We love you so much, baby!
Keep running your race.”

Despite celebrating her achievements, Doug acknowledged that Kendra still has plenty of opportunities to improve as she prepares for the next level. He expressed confidence that her determination and passion would continue guiding her through the challenges ahead.
