The television host and writer shared a heartfelt message about Lucia’s progress, looking back on a time when her daughter was much younger and hesitant to participate in competitive swimming.

According to Bianca, Lucia was in Grade 1 when she became emotional and told her parents that she did not want to participate in her school’s lower elementary swim meet. At the time, the young girl was apparently not yet comfortable taking part in that kind of competition.

Several years later, however, Lucia’s attitude toward swimming has changed significantly.

Now in Grade 5, Lucia accepted an invitation from her coach to compete in an interschool swim meet. What made the achievement particularly meaningful for Bianca was the extent of Lucia’s participation.

The young swimmer competed in all four major strokes — freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly — and also took part in a relay event.

Bianca expressed amazement and pride over how far her daughter had come.

“When she was grade 1, she shed tears as she told us she didn’t want to join their lower elementary swim meet in school. now in the fifth grade, she accepted her coach’s invite to join an interschool swim meet and did all four events: freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly, plus a relay (!!!) 🥹 and she did sooo well 😭❤️💪🏼🦋✨️,” she wrote.

For Bianca, Lucia’s experience was a reminder that children do not necessarily develop their confidence and interests according to a fixed timetable. She reflected on how her daughter went from being hesitant to join a school competition to willingly taking on a demanding series of events several years later.

“They really do bloom in their own time 🌸,” Bianca wrote.

The milestone clearly touched the proud mother, who admitted that her emotions were difficult to contain as she watched Lucia perform.

“My mama heart cannot deal 😭,” she added.

Bianca then directly congratulated her daughter and made it clear how proud she and her family are of Lucia.

“We are so so so so proud of you, Lucia 🌟,” she wrote.
“And thank you ninong @jayrreyes for the support and for making the video waah,” Bianca added.

The post highlighted more than just an athletic accomplishment. For Bianca, Lucia’s participation represented a personal journey of growth and confidence. The contrast between her Grade 1 experience and her Grade 5 achievement made the moment especially meaningful.

Rather than focusing solely on winning or athletic performance, Bianca’s message celebrated Lucia for being willing to try something she once found intimidating. Her reflection also offered an encouraging reminder to parents that children can discover confidence and passion at different stages of their development.

Earlier, Bianca Gonzalez voiced her frustration over worsening flooding experienced by communities across the Philippines. She questioned the continued dependence on short-term responses during the rainy season and argued that longer-term and more sustainable approaches are necessary. Among the issues she highlighted were flood-control projects, mass public transportation, and effective governance, which she said require consistent attention rather than temporary solutions. Bianca also raised the question of why nearby countries seem to handle comparable challenges more effectively while flooding problems in the Philippines continue to become more serious.
