Ogie celebrates his birthday on August 27, and Avanzado used the occasion to reflect on the remarkable length and depth of their relationship.
In his message, Avanzado recalled that their friendship stretches back 42 years, long before either of them had established the careers that would make them familiar names in Philippine entertainment.
“42 years and counting. Our friendship goes way beyond showbiz,” Avanzado wrote.

He specifically remembered their days in Kundirana, the musical group and formation that became part of their teenage years. Rather than simply describing Ogie as an industry colleague, Avanzado emphasized that their connection has grown into something much deeper over the decades.
“From our Kundirana teens era to now about to cross the senior citizen discount line, 🤪 I can’t help but be sentimental about our journey as friends and brothers,” he added.
The playful reference to reaching the age associated with senior citizen discounts also brought some humor to what was otherwise a deeply sentimental birthday greeting.
For Avanzado, the passage of time has only reinforced the importance of their friendship. The two have witnessed each other’s personal and professional journeys, from their early years as young performers to their established careers in Philippine music and entertainment.
Avanzado also used his message to express his hopes and prayers for Ogie’s future.
“I just continue to pray for you and wish you nothing but the best in life,” he said.
He then extended the birthday greeting on behalf of his family and their circle of friends.
“So, I together with my family and our dear friends wish you a Truly HAPPY 59th BIRTHDAY,” Avanzado concluded.
For Avanzado and Alcasid, their connection has survived the pressures and changes of the entertainment industry.
Ogie Alcasid has built a long career as a singer, songwriter, actor, comedian, host, director, and producer. Born on August 27, 1967, he has remained active in Philippine entertainment for decades, with songwriting and music among the major foundations of his career.
Beyond their professional accomplishments, Alcasid’s family life has also been an important part of his public identity. He is married to singer and television personality Regine Velasquez, popularly known as Asia’s Songbird, and they have a son, Nate. Alcasid also has a daughter, Leila, from a previous relationship.
Avanzado himself is known for OPM favorites including “Tatlong Beinte Singko,” “Basta’t Kasama Kita,” and “Maghihintay Sa’yo,” while his composition “Paalam Na” became a significant songwriting achievement.
Ogie Alcasid previously expressed his admiration for SB19 after the P-pop group’s historic appearance at Lollapalooza 2026 in Chicago. Following their performance, the veteran singer-songwriter posted a brief but enthusiastic reaction on X, adding his voice to the many messages celebrating SB19’s international achievement.
Earlier, Ogie Alcasid marked Mother’s Day by paying tribute separately to his wife, Regine Velasquez, and his former spouse, Michelle Van Eimeren. He praised Regine for the way she has embraced motherhood and credited her with helping raise their son Nate into what he described as a “fantastic young gentleman.” Ogie also recognized Michelle’s role in raising their two daughters, expressing appreciation for the way she helped them grow into brave and independent young women.
