KD Estrada candidly discussed his experience with online bashers and the changes he has made in dealing with criticism during an interview with Bianca Gonzalez on Cinema One’s The B Side.

The actor, singer, and songwriter reflected on how difficult it was for him to process negative comments in the past, particularly during a period when he acknowledged that he was not in a stable mental state.
According to KD, his previous approach to online criticism was not healthy.
“Well, ’yung sa haters, dati, I didn’t handle it well at all, lalo na nung I wasn’t in a super stable mental state,” he said.

The actor did not elaborate on the specific circumstances surrounding that difficult period, but he explained that his perspective toward social media criticism has changed over time.
KD said he has gradually learned to create emotional distance from the words of people who criticize him online. One way he does this is by reminding himself that what people present on social media may not necessarily reflect their personalities away from the internet.
“But now I’ve kind of handled it in a way na, I just think of it as smoke and mirrors,” KD explained.
For the actor, social media can amplify certain emotions and thoughts, particularly negative ones. He said that comments posted by bashers can represent an exaggerated version of feelings that may not necessarily define the person behind the account.
“It’s just people online; that’s not their actual persona in real life,” he said.
KD described these online personas as “an amplified persona” of people’s negative thoughts and feelings. By looking at comments this way, he has found a way to avoid immediately taking every criticism personally.
He also pointed out that some hurtful remarks may simply come from an impulse rather than a carefully considered opinion.
“And ’yung mga comments nila, it’s just comes from an impulse lang,” KD said.
Rather than allowing every negative comment to define his perception of himself, KD appears to have developed a more detached approach. His current mindset centers on recognizing the difference between someone’s online reaction and his own reality.
