Among the first four official entries is "The Greatest Showdown," a highly anticipated comedy film that brings together two of Philippine entertainment's biggest names, Vice Ganda and Vic Sotto, for the first time in a major movie project. Produced through the collaboration of ABS-CBN Studios, Star Cinema, The IdeaFirst Company, M-Zet Productions, and APT Entertainment, the film will be directed by Jun Robles-Lana, making it one of the most anticipated entries in this year's festival.

Also making the official lineup is "Amir," a drama from GMA Pictures directed by Zig Dulay. The film stars Argus Aspiras, Dennis Trillo, Will Ashley, and Glaiza de Castro. With Dulay at the helm, the movie is expected to deliver a compelling story, adding another dramatic offering to this year's festival roster.

Joining the first four entries is Viva Films’ "2nd Miracle in Cell Number 7," starring Aga Muhlach. The film serves as the sequel to the 2019 Filipino adaptation of the hit South Korean drama, continuing the emotional story that resonated with Filipino audiences during its original release.

Completing the initial batch is Regal Entertainment’s horror film "Haunted Carnival," directed by Joey De Guzman. The movie features an ensemble cast led by Julia Barretto, Fyang Smith, Maricel Soriano, James Reid, and John Arcilla, promising a chilling addition to this year's MMFF lineup.

Aside from announcing the first official entries, organizers also reaffirmed their commitment to making the festival more accessible to moviegoers through an affordable ticket pricing policy.

Earlier, Metropolitan Manila Development Authority Chairperson and MMFF Overall Chair Atty. Don Artes revealed that the maximum ticket price during the festival period will be capped at ₱299 following an agreement with cinema operators.

Explaining the decision, Artes said the price ceiling was reached after discussions with theater owners to help encourage more Filipinos to watch the festival entries.

"Nagkasundo kami ng Cinema Exhibitors Association of the Philippines na ang presyo ng tickets sa sinehan ay hindi dapat lalagpas ng P299."

He also clarified that the announced amount is only the maximum allowable ticket price during the MMFF and that some cinemas, particularly those in the provinces, may charge even less.

Emphasizing that the price cap applies only throughout the festival period, Artes added that audiences could still expect lower admission rates depending on the cinema's location.

"Ito po ay during festival period lamang, at 'yung P299 ay maximum. Puwede pa bumaba, lalo na sa mga probinsya."

The Metro Manila Film Festival is one of the country's most anticipated annual movie events, traditionally beginning every Christmas Day, December 25, when participating films are exclusively screened in cinemas nationwide. The festival showcases locally produced movies across various genres while highlighting the talents of Filipino filmmakers, actors, and production companies. More official entries for the 52nd MMFF are expected to be announced in the coming months as preparations continue for this year's festival.
