Singer, songwriter, actor, and dancer Wilbert Ross has once again spoken candidly about one of the darkest chapters of his life, revealing the depth of his struggle with severe depression during an interview on Real Talk, the podcast of The Philippine Star.

During the conversation, Wilbert looked back on 2019, describing it as the most difficult period he had ever experienced.

“Yung 2019. That was like my lowest, lowest. I’m clinically diagnosed with severe depression. Feel ko ang sama kong tao that time, kasi unstable ako eh because of depression. Madami akong mga taong nasaktan, naaapektuhan. And I know in myself na I have this core na ugali ko,” he shared.

The singer admitted that his mental health condition affected not only himself but also the people around him. Looking back, he acknowledged that his emotional struggles caused pain to others, something he deeply regrets.

Wilbert also opened up about the significance of one of his tattoos, revealing that it serves as a permanent reminder of the difficult battle he fought during that period of his life.

“There’s a reason why I have a tattoo here. It’s a cover-up. Hangga’t walang tattoo dito, mate-tempt ako. I wrote a song about that moment, ’yung ‘Benteng Ukit,’” he said.

His statement highlighted how music became one of the ways he processed his experiences and transformed painful memories into creative expression.

The revelation echoes what Wilbert shared several years ago when he first began speaking publicly about his mental health journey.
