On Wednesday, May 20, the veteran actress took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share a short but striking remark that many users interpreted in different ways. Without directly naming any person or situation, Agot posted a statement referencing “crocodile tears.”

In her post, the actress wrote, “Crocodile tears. Buwaya pa din.”

The phrase “crocodile tears” is commonly used to describe an insincere or hypocritical display of sorrow, suggesting that a person may merely be putting on a performance rather than expressing genuine emotion. By adding the phrase “buwaya pa din,” Agot appeared to further emphasize her point, as the word “buwaya” is widely used locally as a metaphor for greed and corruption.

“Pasintabi sa buwaya, the animal,” she added, seemingly apologizing to actual crocodiles.

Because of the wording of the post, many social media users quickly began speculating about its possible meaning and whom it might be referring to.

Agot Isidro is a Pinay actress, singer, host, and occasional activist. Agot studied and graduated from the University of the Philippines in Diliman, Quezon City, with a bachelor’s degree in Interior Design. She then pursued Fashion Buying and Merchandising in New York City’s Fashion Institute of Technology, where she finished with honors. The singer and actress also completed a master’s degree in communication at the Ateneo de Manila University. Despite her academic achievements, Agot went on to pursue her passion for singing and eventually acting.

Last November, Agot spoke out about the importance of protecting the Sierra Madre following the onslaught of Typhoon Uwan. The actress criticized voters who praise the mountain range for shielding communities from storms while continuing to support candidates allegedly linked to pro-mining interests, pointing out what she viewed as a contradiction in public behavior. Agot also encouraged Filipinos to take environmental protection into consideration when choosing leaders in the upcoming elections. Her statement emphasized the crucial role of the Sierra Madre in reducing storm impact and safeguarding the country’s biodiversity.
