Melai Cantiveros recently shared meaningful moments from her family’s Catholic pilgrimage in South Korea, where they were warmly welcomed by Korean Catholic communities and tourism organizations.

The actress took to social media to post photos from their trip, which included visits to historical Catholic sites and religious landmarks connected to the history of Christianity in Korea.

“Korea Pilgrimage starts Now,” Melai wrote in her post.

According to the actress, their first day alone already became one of the most unforgettable experiences they had during their visits to South Korea.

She expressed gratitude to Korea Tourism Organization Manila for organizing what she described as their “best tour ever” in the country.

Melai shared that their family visited the Haemi Martyrdom Holy Ground and the Haemi Shrine, which she described as deeply moving places rich in Catholic history.

The actress reflected on learning about the persecution endured by thousands of Korean Catholics during the Joseon Dynasty.

According to Melai, around 18,000 Catholics were persecuted and killed because of their unwavering faith and belief in God during that period.

“Very busog ang heart ko sa lessons, realizations, and mas minahal ko ang Korea because of this history,” she wrote.

She added that the pilgrimage allowed her to appreciate another side of Korea beyond its globally popular entertainment culture.

“Di lang Kpop and KDrama ang Korea, they have also the beautiful story of Faith kay God,” Melai shared.

In a separate post, the Wake-Up International Youth Center also welcomed Melai and her family during their visit to Haemi in Seosan.

The organization described the family’s visit as a “meaningful pilgrimage journey” filled with prayer, reflection, and inspiration.

According to the center, Melai and her family learned more about Korean Catholic history and witnessed the sacred remains of Korean Unknown Martyrs, further deepening their spiritual experience.

The family also visited the Pope Francis Museum inside the Wake-Up International Youth Center and participated in a virtual reality experience that introduced them to the beauty and spirit of the Vatican.

The center likewise highlighted Melai’s role as the first Filipino celebrity appointed as Honorary Ambassador for Korea Family Tourism in the Philippines.

The organization praised the actress for inspiring Filipino families to discover Korea through culture, faith, and meaningful travel experiences.

Earlier, Melai Cantiveros expressed gratitude and excitement after returning to South Korea with Jason Francisco and their daughters, Mela and Stella. The actress shared online how thankful she was for the opportunity to revisit the country with her family once again, revealing that it marked their third consecutive year traveling to Korea.

In a previous report, Melai Cantiveros-Francisco also shared that she fulfilled one of her personal bucket list dreams after attending a Mass celebrated by Father Jerry Orbos.
