In a Facebook post on Tuesday, March 17, Xian reflected on developments he has been observing in Dubai and the potential impact these could have on the country’s economy and its large Filipino community.
“Nakakapanghina yung nangyayari sa Dubai ngayon sa totoo lang. Sobrang nakakalungkot,” he wrote, beginning his post by sharing how saddened he felt about the situation.
Xian went on to express his view about what he believes are economic challenges affecting the country.

“Dumapa na yung buong stock market nila as of yesterday. Yung trillion dollar real estate empire nila ay free fall na rin,” he said, referring to what he described as a downturn in the stock market and the real estate sector.
He also mentioned the aviation industry, specifically the national airline Emirates, which he claimed has been facing financial difficulties.
“Yung primary cash cow nila na Emirates airlines ay grabe na yung lugi.”
Continuing his post, Xian shared his thoughts about the broader economic situation in the UAE, including oil revenues from the neighboring emirate of Abu Dhabi, which he said may also be encountering problems.
“Yung main backup nila na oil money ng Abu Dhabi ay problemado din.”
He further suggested that foreign investments, which he described as another important economic pillar of the country, could also be affected.
“Yung secondary source nila na direct foreign investments ay sobrang affected din, nag-aalisan na mga kumpanya.”
According to Xian, the UAE could be significantly affected by the broader conflict even if it is not directly involved.
“Ang numero unong nadale ng gyerang ito ay UAE sa totoo lang. Gyera na wala silang kinalaman, literal na nadamay lang.”
Xian then shifted his focus to the potential consequences for Filipino workers in the UAE, where a large number of Filipinos live and work.
“If this conflict won't stop anytime soon, more than one million Filipinos ang mawawalan ng trabaho, both documented and undocumented,” he warned, presenting this as a possibility he is worried about.
He also pointed out the high cost of living in Dubai, saying prolonged unemployment could force many workers to return to the Philippines.
“Napakataas ng cost of living sa Dubai. Hindi sustainable kapag wala kang trabaho for many months. Mapupwersa kang umuwi ng Pinas.”
Toward the end of his post, Xian called on fellow Filipinos to include overseas workers in their prayers as they face uncertainty.
“Kaya isama natin sa ating mga panalangin yung mga kababayan natin sa UAE. Nawa'y ma-survive nilang lahat ang pagsubok na 'to.”
His post quickly circulated online and drew reactions from netizens, including Filipinos currently working in the UAE who shared their own sentiments and perspectives about the situation.
The UAE, particularly Dubai, has long been home to a large Filipino community, with many working in industries such as hospitality, aviation, retail, and construction. For years, the country has been among the major destinations for overseas Filipino workers seeking employment opportunities abroad.
