The interview has drawn fresh interest amid conversations about the SexBomb Girls’ image, following remarks made by Alvin Aragon, the husband of former member Izzy Trazona, which sparked online discussions about the group’s style and outfits.
In the interview, Kara directly asked Aira about accusations from conservative critics who claimed that the SexBomb dancers were “hindi magandang halimbawa sa mga kabataan kasi parang malaswa raw.”
The dancer and actress candidly recalled a particularly challenging time in their career when there were calls for their removal from a popular television segment.

“Alam ko may nangyari na pinapatanggal na kami sa segment ng ‘Laban o Bawi’ kasi dahil sa mga outfit namin,” said Aira, referring to their stint on the long-running noontime show Eat Bulaga.
Despite the controversy, Aira emphasized that the group was carefully guided by their talent manager and mentor, Joy Cancio, whom she credited for teaching them how to protect themselves during performances and public appearances.
“Ang kagandahan kasi sa amin, hindi kami lumalabas nang naka-shorts, na walang stockings. Secured ang body namin. Ganyan kagaling si Miss Joy,” Aira shared.
She went on to explain how their costumes were deliberately styled to ensure they remained covered and secure while performing: “Kasi, 'di ba, ngayon parang pag sumayaw yung iba wala nang stockings, naka-shorts… 'yan ang ayaw mong makita ng tao, like yung masilipan ka. Hindi secured yung parts ng body mo.”
“Ang SexBomb very secured. Yun ang hindi nila alam. Nag-stockings kami, ang mga boots namin matataas, nag-socks, may mga suot kami panloob.”
Kara then offered her perspective on the issue of perceived indecency. The award-winning journalist said, “Ang kalaswaan ay nandito, e,” while pointing to her temple, indicating that it is in the mind. Aira agreed, saying, “Yes, kung paano mo titingnan yung tao.”
“Anuman ang suot ng babae, di ba, ikaw ang nagbibigay ng kabastusan at kalaswaan sa kanya,” Kara added.
“Totoo yan,” Aira responded, adding that because of how Joy guided them, even if they wore revealing outfits, people did not see them as indecent.

The SexBomb Girls are a monumental all-female group that redefined the Philippine entertainment landscape. Originally formed as house dancers for Eat Bulaga, they transitioned into a multi-media powerhouse, becoming Asia’s top-selling female act in the 2000s. With quadruple-platinum hits and a record-breaking seven-year drama series, Daisy Siete, they were eventually inducted into the Box Office Hall of Fame.
Recently, former SexBomb member Izzy Trazona-Aragon responded to online mockery directed at her husband, Alvin Aragon, by reaffirming her family's deep-rooted faith and reliance on God. This defense comes in the wake of public backlash over Alvin’s controversial remarks regarding the SexBomb Girls' image and his reported non-acceptance of Izzy's transgender child, Sofia Trazona.
Earlier, Alvin criticized Bulacan Vice Governor Alex Castro for allowing his wife, Sunshine Garcia, to perform in the SexBomb reunion concert, arguing that a husband's duty is to protect his wife from being sexualized by others. Alvin contrasted this with his own firm religious stance and protective approach toward his wife, Izzy Trazona.
