Rona Samson-Tai, the wife of Eric Tai, recently spoke up on social media after receiving harsh comments about her dramatic weight loss and cosmetic surgery. She posted a before-and-after photo to show how far she has come and admitted that not everyone supported her progress.

According to Rona, she faced judgment, bashing, and body-shaming whenever she shared updates online. Still, she said she pushed forward because the journey was never about impressing others but about choosing her health, discipline, and self-respect.

She shared that her transformation came from consistent nutrition, regular training, and medically guided support under a doctor’s supervision. After losing significant weight, she worked with Doc Yappy and underwent a 360 tummy tuck to remove excess skin that lifestyle changes alone could not fix.

Rona said she hopes her story reminds others that improvement is personal and that people should not wait for permission to better themselves.

She wrote:

Eric Tai, widely known as Eruption, is a Tongan-born Filipino actor, model, television host, comedian, and former rugby union player. He became a household name after appearing on It’s Showtime and has remained active in both entertainment and sports. In his personal life, Eric married Rona Samson in March 2015 in a ceremony at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Cubao, Quezon City.

Previously, Rona shared a before-and-after video documenting her recovery after surgery that followed years of weight loss and discipline. The clip showed loose skin in the first part and her slimmer belly after undergoing a full 360 body lift. She emphasized that the procedure was not about vanity but about closure, healing, and honoring her body’s journey.

In another story, Eric reflected on the challenges he faced in 2016, including losing his hosting job and suffering a serious hand injury while playing for the national team. Despite the setbacks, he and Rona leaned on their faith and even joined The Amazing Race Asia to help fund their IVF treatment. Years later, they welcomed their miracle son, Legend, whom Eric considers one of their greatest blessings.
