The issue stemmed from a blind item that talked about a high-profile “power couple” whose relationship is allegedly falling apart. The vague post quickly sparked speculation among netizens, with some social media pages attempting to pin names to the rumor.
On Friday, January 9, Ogie addressed the matter on his Instagram Stories after a Facebook page, Chika Balita PH, shared a post claiming that he mentioned Marian and Dingdong as the couple involved. The post carried the caption: “Marian Rivera dismissed rumors that she and her husband, Dingdong Dantes, were the couple mentioned in Ogie Diaz’s recent blind item about a ‘power couple’ whose marriage is reportedly falling apart.”
Ogie reposted a screenshot of the said Facebook post to set the record straight. In his overlay text, the talent manager and entertainment reporter strongly denied the claim, writing: “Uy, p**** ka! Wala akong mine-mention na names. Imbento ka!”

To further clarify his point, Ogie also shared his earlier Instagram Story where he originally talked about the blind item, emphasizing that no names were ever mentioned and that the speculation came from others trying to “unlock” or guess the identities involved.
In the reposted IG Story, Ogie previously wrote: “Nagkakagulo sila sa isang blind item. Ang nakakalokah, ako naman ang tina-challenge nila na i-unlock ang blind item kung sino yung power couple na ang alam ng madlang pipol ay solid ang relasyon, pero may problema naman pala sila ni mister. Pati mga artista ako tinatawagan. Hahaha! Ang hirap ng trabaho ko. Kalokah! At eto na nga…”
By resurfacing this statement, Ogie underscored that the blind item was never meant to directly point to any specific couple and that the conclusions being drawn online were based purely on assumptions.

The clarification also came amid Marian’s own dismissal of the rumors linking her and Dingdong to the blind item, following the spread of posts suggesting they were the subject of the alleged marital trouble. The Kapuso couple, long regarded by fans as one of the most solid partnerships in local showbiz, became unintended targets of speculation due to the viral nature of the blind item.
Marian Rivera Gracia-Dantes, popularly known as Marian Rivera, is a renowned Filipina actress, philanthropist, endorser, and TV host. She was born on August 12, 1984. Marian rose to stardom after portraying Marimar and the superheroine Darna. She is married to fellow Kapuso star Dingdong Dantes, and they have two children: Maria Letizia and Jose Sixto IV.
Recently, entertainment writer Rose Garcia revealed that Marian personally reached out to clarify that she and her husband Dingdong are not the couple mentioned in the viral rumor. The actress added that such malicious stories are nothing new and tend to resurface every year, despite the genuine happiness and stability of her family.
Last December, Marian celebrated her 11th wedding anniversary with Dingdong by sharing a heartfelt Instagram Story from their El Nido vacation, highlighting a tender moment between them. Accompanied by Christina Perri’s “A Thousand Years,” her message expressed gratitude and reaffirmed her enduring love and commitment to her husband.
