The heartbreaking news was shared with the public through an emotional Facebook video posted on December 27 by April Boys member Vingo Regino. Vingo, visibly emotional, addressed the fans of the group to announce the loss of his brother and fellow band member.
Vingo then expressed the deep pain he has been carrying since Jimmy’s passing, opening up about how difficult it has been to process the loss of someone he loved dearly.

Vingo then reflected on one of April Boys’ well-loved songs and how its lyrics have taken on a deeper, more painful meaning in light of his brother’s death. Recalling “Ganyan Talaga ang Pag-ibig,” he quoted a line from the song and shared how it now mirrors his own sorrow. “Naalala ko yung kanta naming ‘Ganyan Talaga ang Pag-ibig,’ [yung lyrics na] ‘alaala na iniwan mo kapag naisip ko nalulungkot ako,’ totoo yung lyrics na iyon,” he said, connecting his personal loss to the music that helped define the group’s career.
He likewise revealed details about Jimmy’s final days, saying his brother had been confined in the hospital for some time. According to him, it felt as though Jimmy had been holding on, waiting for one last meeting with him before finally letting go. He shared how painful it was to think that his brother may have been waiting for that moment of reunion.
Furthermore, Vingo emphasized just how heavy the loss has been for him and their family. He explained that what people were seeing was simply an honest expression of his grief, noting how difficult it is to lose someone so close to the heart.
He ended his message with a line that struck longtime fans of the group deeply: “Isa na namang April Boys ang nawala sa atin.”
