Herlene Budol opened up on GMA’s Fast Talk With Boy Abunda about the viral moment where her close friend Bea Borres declined her offer to be one of the godmothers or ninang of Bea’s baby, as seen in a vlog by Alex Gonzaga. The Kapuso star clarified that she was not hurt by Bea’s decision and explained that her intention to volunteer came from a place of care and concern as a friend.

According to Herlene, she wanted to be a ninang not because of closeness, but because she felt Bea needed someone who would genuinely protect her, with or without cameras around.
Herlene admitted that while she was not hurt, she did feel embarrassed after the moment went viral and people kept tagging her online. She said the issue only became heavier when netizens repeatedly commented that she should not have volunteered herself for such a role. Through the experience, Herlene said she learned an important lesson about boundaries and realized that it is better not to volunteer for sensitive roles like being a godparent. Despite the online noise, she made it clear that there was no bad blood between her and Bea and that she holds no resentment over what happened.
“Ako naman, naapektuhan lang ako noong nagkukwentuhan kami na parang gusto kong mag-ninang hindi dahil sobrang close namin, gusto kong mag-ninang dahil kulang siya ng protector. Kulang siya ng taong hindi man mag-guide, ’yung poprotektahan siya with or without camera. Bilang isang kaibigan.

“Hindi naman ako nasaktan. Napahiya lang ako. Actually, hindi ko nga siya naisip eh. Hanggang sa paulit-ulit na lang na may nagtatag sa akin na dapat hindi ka pala nagvovolunteer kapag may ganoon klase ng bagay. Natutunan ko ’yon sa issue na ‘yon na parang wag kang magvo-volunteer.“
Bea Borres is a social media creator who first became popular as a teen influencer and later gained more followers by sharing honest content about student life, daily routines, and now her pregnancy. Many young people relate to her because she talks openly about real experiences. Since announcing that she is expecting a baby, Bea has been more open about the changes in her body and emotions as she prepares for motherhood.
Earlier, Bea spoke about the online buzz after she politely declined Herlene Budol’s offer to be a ninang to her baby during their appearance on Alex Gonzaga’s vlog. Bea explained that the issue was not serious at all and that she had already chosen her baby’s godparents early in her pregnancy. Herlene also clarified that she was not offended and shared her side in a TikTok video.
In another update, Bea shared on Facebook that her high-risk pregnancy has affected her confidence. She admitted feeling like she lost her pregnancy glow and sometimes feels disconnected from her changing body. Despite this, Bea said her journey is still worth sharing and thanked her friends for reminding her that she is not alone.
