In a lengthy and heartfelt post, Neri opened up about her struggles with trauma and depression, explaining that what people saw in the video was her authentic self — relaxed, makeup-free, and at peace in her home routine of gardening, cooking, and doing chores. She admitted that she was never born conventionally beautiful and had long battled insecurities from being told she wasn’t attractive, even as an actress. Despite these past criticisms, she said she has learned to accept her natural looks, freckles, and imperfections, embracing what she now calls her “quiet, simple version” of beauty.

Neri reflected on her growth, saying that real beauty comes from strength, kindness, and resilience rather than perfection or filters. She also encouraged women to normalize seeing real, unfiltered faces, even when they look tired or imperfect, reminding her followers that “maybe it’s in our most unfiltered moments that we actually look the most alive.”

“When I woke up this morning and opened my phone, ang dami kong notifications.
Nagulat ako kase ang dami palang comments… some of them, concerned about how I look.
May nagsabi pa na, ‘Ano’ng nangyari kay Neri? Ang haggard nya.. tumanda itsura mo.’
The truth is… ang daming nangyare sa akin.. di ba? Hehe! At patuloy pa ring lumalaban sa trauma at depresyon…
I was just in my sunroom kahapon, nag-gagardening. Walang make-up. Walang filter. Hindi nag-effort para sa ibang tao. Kase ‘pag nasa bahay ako, ‘yun talaga ako… nakaduster or pajamas… nagtatanim, nagluluto, naglalaba, nagpapawis, and just living my normal life.
Hindi ako pinanganak na maganda. Alam ko na yun.. at hindi rin ako nagpapa-awa or fishing.. At matagal kong naging insecurity ‘yan nung bata pa ako.
Growing up, lagi kong naririnig, ‘Ang pangit mo,’ or ‘Ang hirap mong pagandahin.’
Kahit nung nag-artista na ako, may mga tao na nagsasabi na nahihirapan raw akong ayusan kasi mukha daw akong probinsyana. Mukhang ukay ukay mga damit ko…

And you know what? Totoo naman.
My face has freckles, veins, uneven nose ang lips, wala akong pilikmata at kilay, at pale talaga ang face ko.
But this is my face.
Walang botox, walang filter… only me.
Baka pag 50 yrs old or senior na ako, baka mag try akong magpa botox.. or maybe not.. depende kung magiging matapang na ako sa injection, hehe!
Dati, sobrang sakit marinig na ‘ang pangit mo’.
Pero habang tumatanda ka, you realize…
So what if I’m not pretty?
So what if I don’t look like everyone else on TV or social media?
Because now, at 42, I’ve learned to love and accept this face. This body. This quiet, simple version of me.
This is the same face that smiled through pain,
the same hands that built dreams from scratch,
the same woman who faced the world even when it laughed at her.
And maybe that’s what real beauty is… the kind that’s not always seen..
