He first spoke about his brother Rustom Padilla, who transitioned into BB Gandanghari many years ago. Robin shared how much he missed his sibling and how their reconnection meant a lot to him, saying, “Namiss ko siya eh. Noong nag-out siya, hindi na kami nag-usap. Kaya noong dumating ‘yung time na naging close kami ulit, ‘yun pala ’yung isang namimiss ko sa buhay ko, ‘yung relationship ko sa kaniya.”

The senator also grew emotional when he talked about his mother, former actress Eva Cariño, who is now suffering from dementia. “Iba po si Mama kaya masakit sa amin ngayon na nakikita namin yung mama namin na mahinang-mahina,” he said. He revealed that his mother often forgets who she is and where she is, remembering only painful memories. “Minsan nakakalimutan niya kung sino siya. Nakakalimutan niya kung nasaan siya. Ang natatandaan niya, lahat ng masakit. Kanina lang, magmula kagabi hanggang kanina, iyak nang iyak. Walang tigil ng iyak kasi lahat ng natatandaan niya, masakit,” Robin said, adding that they try to comfort her through songs she remembers.

He ended by expressing how heartbreaking it is to see a once-strong mother in a helpless state, saying, “Mahirap kasi kapag nakita mo yung nanay mong matibay, matigas, tapos makikita mo siya na helpless.”
