Musician Mark Escueta has joined the growing number of artists mourning the passing of singer-songwriter Davey Langit. In a touching Instagram post, the Rivermaya drummer looked back on their friendship and expressed his admiration for the late artist.

“Nandon palang kami ni Jolina sa pagiging fan at umaasang makapag collaborate tayo someday,” Mark wrote, referring to his wife Jolina Magdangal.

He recalled how they would often bump into each other during events like those organized by the Filipino Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (Filscap).

Mark ended his post with a message of gratitude and farewell: “Salamat sa musika at inspirasyon, Davey Ryan Edward Langit. Mapayapang pahinga.”

Mark’s message echoed the sentiments of many in the music community—thankful for Davey’s legacy and saddened by the loss of a true talent who inspired countless artists through his work and friendship.

Davey first rose to fame as a contestant on Pinoy Dream Academy in 2006. He went on to become a respected musician and songwriter, best known for his award-winning song “Dalawang Letra,” which won the Grand Prize at the 2016 Himig Handog P-Pop Love Songs competition. His other popular works include “Selfie Song” and “The Wedding Song.”

Davey has passed away on October 22, after a battle with a rare spinal infection. His family and friends remembered him as a joyful soul who lived life to the fullest and loved music with deep passion. According to Therese, Davey’s wake will be held at Phoenix Memorial Chapels & Crematory Inc. in Santa Rosa, Laguna from October 23 to 26, followed by another memorial at St. Peter Urdaneta from October 27 to 29. They also expressed their gratitude to everyone who supported Davey during his final days, saying he “felt so loved” and filled with gratitude and hope.
