Veteran actor Michael de Mesa has become the latest victim of a death hoax circulating on social media after a Facebook post falsely claimed that he had passed away at the age of 65.

The actor himself took to Instagram Stories to immediately debunk the false report and urge his followers to help report the misleading post.
A Facebook account shared the fake news, stating: “MALUNGKOT NA BALITA: Pumanaw Na Ang Veteran Actor Na Si Michael De Mesa Sa Edad Na 65 Dahil Sa Atake Sa Puso Kaninang 4:50 Ng Hapon.”

The fabricated post quickly gained attention online, prompting Michael to clarify the situation on his verified G account. Sharing a screenshot of the false report with a bold “FAKE NEWS” label, he quipped, “Posting this from heaven.”
“I’m not the only one. Grabe na fake news ngayon,” the continued, expressing frustration over the surge of fake news online.
He also urge his followers to take action by reporting the post: “Help me report this post (false information). Thanks!”
Through his IG story, Michael reassured his fans that he is alive and well. His response highlighted the growing concern over the spread of fabricated news, particularly when it comes to sensitive matters like death announcements.
