The earthquake that struck late night in Cebu was measured by PHIVOLCS at magnitude 6.9, with its epicenter off the coast of Cebu Province. It claimed at least 69 lives and left over 200 people injured, with San Remigio among the hardest hit municipalities. Many structures were damaged or collapsed, roads were cracked, and medical and rescue services were stretched thin. The province has since been placed under a state of calamity and restoration efforts are underway, with officials urging for more volunteers, food, water, and emergency medical support.
Shuvee has moved on with her career and social media presence after a recent backlash over resurfaced videos and posts where she expressed political views — especially opinions about former president Rodrigo Duterte and incidents with fellow celebrities. She has issued public apologies, saying she understands the hurt caused by her past comments, and has stated she is growing, learning, and taking responsibility. Her network and management have also defended her, with executives reiterating she is not aligned with any political faction and supporting her efforts to use her platform for positive action.
