The Instagram Story she shared on Friday, September 26, contained statistics from the Philippine Center for Investigative Journalism (PCIJ) highlighting how family dynasties dominate the country’s political landscape.

The post from @peso.weekly pointed out that “250 dynasties control all 82 provinces. 67% of House seats belong to dynasty members. 80% of governors in 2025 are from dynasties.” The figures, drawn from PCIJ’s 2025 report, emphasize how entrenched political families remain in positions of power despite long-running calls for reform.

The PesoWeekly’s post also underscored the recurring presence of political dynasties, pointing out the lack of fresh options for voters: “Same Families, Every Time. Think about your city or province. How often does the last name on the ballot actually change? For decades, it’s been the same clans, passing power from parent to child like a family heirloom. You don’t get real choices, you just get a menu of dynasties.”

Through her repost, Pia echoed a sentiment shared by many who are frustrated with the lack of political alternatives. Her call serves as both a plea and a challenge for citizens to think beyond dynasties and to consider what is truly best for the country’s future.
