Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray took to Instagram on Sunday to share her concerns over government accountability in the Philippines. Her post coincided with her participation in the “Trillion Peso March,” a massive protest at the People Power Monument demanding transparency and good governance.

The beauty queen and public advocate began her message by addressing the nation directly.

“Pilipinas. Nafefeel nyo ba? We wear no colours - we stand together united for our nation.”

She emphasized unity among Filipinos, noting that citizens were standing together beyond political affiliations.”

Catriona continued by stressing citizens’ rights to know how public funds are used.

“We pay our taxes. And as responsible, law abiding, tax paying citizens we DESERVE to know (and see) that our taxes are going towards the betterment of our nation,” Catriona wrote, highlighting that taxpayers have a right to transparency and accountability from their leaders.

Criticizing performative leadership, she added, “We will not be satisfied with theatrics, or empty promises. Tama na acting!!”

“All of our eyes are on our leaders. How you handle your positions - we will be watching and demanding good and fair governance. We demand accountability! We call on our leaders to CLEAN UP THE CORRUPT!” she continued.

Finally, she directly challenged leaders while stressing urgency: “Sa mga lider namin, the ball is in your court.. ipaglaban niyo kami. Change takes time. But the time to change is NOW. #STOPTHECORRUPTION.”

Alongside her post, Catriona shared a carousel of photos taken by actor Khalil Ramos during the march, showing her among the crowd holding placards and standing with fellow protesters.

Catriona Gray is a beauty queen, singer, performer, host, and endorser in the Philippines. She rose to fame after winning Miss Universe 2018 representing the Philippines.
