In a heartfelt Instagram Story, Andi reflected on how the island used to be enjoyed in its raw and natural form, emphasizing the importance of respecting both nature and the local community. She began by saying:
"Gone are the days when people came to Siargao simply to enjoy the island for what it truly is! To surf, to connect with the locals, to celebrate without needing to post every moment!"
She lamented that the sense of community and respect for nature is slowly being lost, pointing out how the island has shifted from being a sanctuary for surfers and locals into a destination exploited for social media aesthetics and commercial gain.

"Back then, being here meant being part of a community and respecting the rhythm of nature," she added.
The former actress also raised alarm over the physical impact of development projects, especially those that alter untouched natural landscapes. She called out the practice of altering beach fronts to build luxury villas:
"Now we see others coming in for the estetiiqqqq, for the siargao is my home bruhhh. Those who are completely missing the point!! Some even go as far as backhoe-ing beachfronts for their luxury villas, touching what has not been touched for a reason. What they don’t realize is that when you disrupt nature, it will never be the same again. (Or do they realize this and simply just. Dont. Give. A d@mn?)."
Andi, who has chosen to live a quieter life in Siargao with her family, admitted that she does not usually chime in on social media debates. However, she stressed that this issue is too important to ignore, as the island’s future depends on how it is treated today.
"I dont like chiming in to these issues on social media, but this island, needs to be protected. For the locals who are its TRUE stewards, for the surf that made it special, and for the generations to come!"
Her post highlights the growing concern among residents and environmental advocates about the rapid commercialization of Siargao. While the island has become one of the country’s top tourist destinations, many fear that unchecked development and the pursuit of profit could threaten its fragile ecosystems and cultural heritage.

Andi Eigenmann is a Filipino actress, model, and social media personality. She is known for her roles in television dramas and films in the Philippines. She comes from a prominent showbiz family—her mother is veteran actress Jaclyn Jose, and her father is seasoned actor Mark Gil. Andi rose to fame for her lead role in the ABS-CBN fantasy drama Agua Bendita. In recent years, however, she stepped away from mainstream showbiz to embrace a more peaceful island life. She relocated to Siargao with her fiancé, professional surfer Philmar Alipayo, and their children.
As previously reported by KAMI, Andi Eigenmann honored her late father, Mark Gil, by sharing a throwback photo of him with his children on Instagram Stories. In her caption, she reflected that the best gift their father left them was each other, which she described as far more valuable than any wealth “na galing sa nakaw.” The post was shared as the family observed the 11th death anniversary of the late veteran actor.
Recently, Andi Eigenmann addressed online remarks about her children’s appearance after sharing a reel of Lilo and Koa picking wildflowers. Some netizens commented that the kids looked messy, prompting her to respond through a post on Instagram Stories.
